PHOENIX GARDEN COMMUNITY HUB

A new community hub for Phoenix Garden - The design evolved through evaluating optimum location, orientation and facilities for a new community building within this idyllic, tranquil garden site. Phoenix Garden is a secret gem, a haven in the surrounding, high density, bustling area within central London. Through thorough discussions with the community group and gardener along with sustainability analysis and archeological research, a design for a double storey form was developed. In this location where safety and security are a priority the proposed building has a robust and sculptural street elevation with a softer side opening to the ecology garden, incorporating a brown roof with a plant propogation area, planted walls, a voronoi living wall for birds and insects, garden workshop, new community and education facilities and a warden's office.
